I appoligize in advance for the poor formatting, it didn't translate well, and trying to reformat it where we are has proven to be difficult at best. The words are all there, just accept the lack of line breaks and consider the little squares as quote marks ("). When we return form the mission field, I'll try to reformat it and also add the Audio File so you can download it or listen to it.
How to stay free after deliverance
Jeremiah 51:20 "You are My battle-ax and weapons of war: For with you I will break the nation in pieces; With you I will destroy kingdoms.
That message was to the Israelites. It was about capturing the land from their enemies. It still applies to us today for capturing our land, . . . our lives that the enemy has occupied. Now that you have gotten rid of the legal rights, closed the open doors, renounced the enemies rights, and kicked the enemy out, it's time to reclaim your land and your life, so you can be the person God wants you to be.
It's Not Difficult, but it does need your full attention, as well as a little work along the way!
After you've been through deliverance, the enemy will respond the say way they did after salvation. They'll try to tell you "it's not real", "you're not good enough", or "salvation didn't really work for you". They will do the same thing after deliverance. They'll tell you "deliverance isn't real", "deliverance didn't really work", "you're not good enough to receive deliverance", or the demons might say "we're not going to leave", or "we don't have to leave"!
If you've been baptized in the Holy Spirit, or Confirmed as it's called in the Anglican Church, they likely told you the same thing then.
Scripture says Satan is the Father of Lies, so we should begin by not believing those kinds of statements.
Since we can see in scripture that 1/3 of Jesus ministry was deliverance, we know it's real. Deliverance works, and it has value, or Jesus wouldn't have wasted His time with it. The Holy Spirit wouldn't have inspired His followers to record deliverance if it wasn't true, and would be needed and beneficial to future generations. Also scripture says Jesus gave us authority over the demons in His Name, so we know they DO have to leave.
The question is, how long do they have to stay gone? The first clue is when the words come to you, and what voice they are in. Before Deliverance, the thoughts (or words) are usually in first person singular. They'll say things, or cause you to think things like "I want to do that", "it's not really that bad," or "I deserve . . . whatever". That's to get you to believe the thoughts the demons put in your mind are your own, so you won't have any reluctance to carry out the instructions.
During or after Deliverance it will change to third person, and they might say things like "we're still here", "we don't want to go", or "we have a legal right to stay".
Most "Legal Rights" were eliminated when you did your homework. They don't want to leave. They've been with you, and probably your family for many years, maybe hundreds. They've learned what buttons they can push to get you to do what they want you to do, or believe what they want you to believe. If they have to leave and go to someone new, they'll have to re-learn the areas they can affect. We also believe their leadership punishes them if they fail in their assignment.
Keeping them out, stopping their influence, is up to you. You really do have a choice.
Our experience has taught us that before deliverance temptation usually comes from within, and many times, overcomes us, and causes us to yield to it, before we realize that we don't want to, or we have a choice. After deliverance, the temptation seems to come from outside, and we generally see it coming, making it much easier for us to "choose" if we want to give in, or resist the temptation.
Scripture says we get a crown when we overcome temptation.
James 1:12
"Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him."
One day, our crowns are all we'll have to day at Jesus feet. When the demons try to return and temp you to do or think the things you did before deliverance you can raise your hand say "No thank you Satan, I'll take a crown instead". Soon the demons will realize they are doing more harm than good, and they'll stop the attack when they realize it isn't working.
So what do we do to keep the demons from returning? We should be reading the Daily Warfare Prayer and the Evening Prayer every day, or at least praying the major components in it. We should be reading Scripture every day, and could include several deliverance scriptures.
As we gain confidence in our authority, we should begin telling the demons what they can and cannot do. We should break any curses we discover, or even have reason to believe are operating in our lives. We can "cut of any demonic communication", and "cause confusion in their ranks" to cause them problems when they try to carry out their orders. We can ask God to dispatch Angels, and perhaps dispatch them ourselves to guard us and help us in temptations and attacks.
Satan is a legalist, whatever we say has to be totally true, something that could stand up in court. Jesus used Scripture to stop Satan, and it worked so we can and should do the same. Demons are under orders from Satan, but they probably operate like sub-contractors, working for themselves. Instead of just saying, "I bind you Satan", we should say "I bind you Satan, your power, your authority, and your kingdom."
Remember ungodly soul ties from the teaching, you must continue to break any ungodly soul ties that bind you to an activity, a habit, or a belief that is causing you problems. Remember, breaking the ungodly soul tie with someone doesn't affect your Godly Soul Tie with them.
Satanists that we've ministered to say most Christians don't cover themselves with the Blood of Jesus. When we don't do it at bedtime, it allows them the freedom to astro-project right into our homes and our bedrooms for whatever they want to do. They can have sex with you and cause you to believe it's just a dream.
After deliverance, the ball is in your court. Remember how Jesus replied to Satan after the third temptation in the desert? You have to learn to put your finger in the demon's face and say, "I'm done with you, and you're not about to get back in, now get out of here"! Even though the demons are gone, a person may react for a week or two the same way they used to react out of habit. It takes time to become the real you.
STORY - It's like you've had a bird's nest on your head and the birds have been roosting there for many years. You remove the nest, but they will try to build it back. You have to keep sending them away, just like you were waving your arms and shooing birds away from the nest. It may take several days, or even a week or two, before they believe you're serious, and you won't just give up and let them back in.
You've got to really guard against whatever it is that you've worked so hard to get rid of.
If it's fear, you must be aware that fear hangs out in doctor's offices and hospitals, and it manifests with bad news.
STORY - A woman goes through deliverance and gets set free of fear. Several months later, she goes to the hospital for surgery. She was OK until the nurse advised her that the doctor would be several hours late. She became so fearful that she covered her head with the covers. She said she saw a dark cloud in the corner of the room coming right at her. She commanded it to be gone in Jesus name, and it disappeared and didn't bother her any more.
If you were delivered from Alcohol, you just cannot immediately go into a bar believing you can minister to people still addicted. It's like walking into a lion's den. Let me caution you even more. You also shouldn't go to AA meetings either. What's the first thing the attendees do at an AA meeting? They confess "Hi, I'm Bill, and I'm an alcoholic!" That's a positive confession that the demonic world will accept as a legal right to keep you there. The other issue is the other people in an AA meeting. If they haven't been through deliverance, they still have demons hanging around just waiting to attack others they come in contact with. If you've got an AA sponsor that's still struggling, that's an ungodly soul tie that you really don't want to have.
Not putting ourselves in a position to be tempted is the easiest way to avoid temptation. If you were addicted to nicotine before deliverance, you'll have a desire to smoke when you leave, or at least after your first meal. That's just a habit, the demons are gone. The best way to overcome the habit is to avoid the temptation. Take a Bible with you to lunch, and when you're done with lunch, pick up the Bible and read several chapters. The key is to be prepared to "do something different" until the habit is gone.
Most demonic spirits will leave immediately, although some might try to stick around for a week or two, just in case you change your mind. Most studies say it takes about 30 days to develop a habit, and about the same to overcome one, so be prepared to resist!
Our Thoughts
Where do our thoughts come from, God, a demon, or me? If they come from a demon, cover them with the Blood of Jesus and give them back. Continue covering those thoughts you no longer want to be tied to with the Blood of Jesus, and giving them back until the demons learn not to mess with you. After deliverance, the demons cannot automatically come back in since the open doors are closed, and the legal rights have been removed. The only way they can control us is by putting thoughts into our mind, and trying to get us to yield to the thoughts.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
3.For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
John 10:10 says "The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy". Satan's team of demons will try to do the same. They try to steal, kill, and destroy our joy, our freedom, our desire to witness to others, our desire to be free, and help others get free, God's purpose for our lives, and our desire to follow God's will.
We must be wary during the times of the strongest temptation. We should pray daily, "God, show me Satan's tactics in advance" so we're prepared. Satan has had 6000 years to fine tune his strategy, and he's got 24 hours a day to carry it out. Hes ready when we wake up, and we need to be warned & ready.
Most of us have heard "Don't go to bed angry", but here's another reason why that's important. Satan never comes in like a flood. His suggestions and thoughts are like seeds. Any little sprout or seed of anger will grow overnight. The Devil will do his best to water and fertilize while we sleep. The next morning it will be so large, they won't forgive anyone.
After Deliverance, you can't go back into the same environment. We have to control our imagination.
STORY - A local athlete had an addiction to prostitutes and went through deliverance several years ago. He was married with a family, and even a ministry call on his life. He really desired to be free from the addiction. When the deliverance prayer was over, he felt a great deal of freedom. About 6 months after deliverance, he had had no relapses, but noticed a lady he had been with earlier standing by the road. His first thoughts were "I wonder what it would be like to be with her again"? He turned the corner, just to take one more look as he rode by the second time. He might as well have opened the door and said "Come on in Satan, I'm willing to obey you". He felt awful afterward, and immediately scheduled a second deliverance. The second deliverance was successful, but after it was over the prayer minister asked him what he was doing in that section of town. He replied that's the route he normally takes to work. The prayer minster replied, "Take the Interstate"!
Binding
Matthew 12:29 says,"How can anyone enter the strong man's house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house."
You can bind when you can't cast out. How long will spirits stay bound? A person has free will and they can release it. Just keep binding it.
Luke 11:24 says, "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest;
.
When we Bind spirits and send them out, we send them to "Dry Uninhabited Places" so they don't afflict anyone else, or to "wherever Jesus would send them". We don't send them to Jesus to deal with, as He's already dealt with them, and turned the job over to us. We don't send them to the pit, because as the demons told Jesus, "it's not their time yet".
You can bind up spirits in those you have to work with, or be around. (see daily warfare prayer). If you believe you are in the presence or will encounter someone that might be demonized you can bind any demons you don't want to oppress you. You can Bind spirits in Strangers, non-Christians, people on drugs or alcohol, or mentally-ill. If you're going for a job interview, and you are afraid, you can bind fear in your life. If your boss intimidates you, you can bind intimidation before you go in for a meeting with him. If someone constantly victimizes you, you can bind any spirit that would victimize you, or you can bind any predator spirit.
STORY: Doctor's office manager hated her job because everyone caused he trouble. After several weeks of "binding" the Spirits of Lying and Jealously, without saying anything or confronting anyone, the co-workers came to her to apologize for the problems they caused her.
When you are witnessing to someone, remember to take authority & Bind Hindering Spirits that would try to keep others from accepting Jesus as savior.
When you are praying for someone's healing, remember to bind any hindering or blocking spirits, and spirits of infirmity.
Matthew 8:16-17 says, "When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses."
Casting the demons out.
We have authority to Cast a demon out in Jesus name, but how long do they stay gone, and what would happen if they came back?
Luke 11:24-26 says "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.'25 And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order.26 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first."
That's why we take extra care to identify the open doors and legal rights before we cast out any spirits. We also command them Not to come back, sometimes adding in "from now until eternity". We also fill the ministry receiver with the opposite of whatever was cast out to fill any places "swept clean", leaving no space for spirits to return. If we cast out pride, we fill with humility. If we cast out anger, we fill with love.
Remember, the deliverance process can be used for self-deliverance.
The deliverance process is easily remembered with Dr. Karl Payne's 3 C's:
Confess, Cancel, and Command.
1. Confess any Sin we might have allowed to enter our minds.
2. Cancel the Demon's claims to you connected to any sins.
3. Command them to leave and not return.
Another way to remember is by observing what a bouncer in a bar does to a disorderly patron. They grab them, kick them out, and tell them not to come back. We just use a little different terminology. We bind them, cast them out, and tell them not to return.
Scripture says we have authority to command them in Jesus name. That's our legal and spiritual right, because Jesus promised it. When we encounter a resistive demon, we bind any stubbornness, un-cooperativeness, or disobedience. We also might use "in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth", His full legal name.
When we kick a demon out, to be as powerful, and legally correct as we can, we need to identify the demon first. During our deliverance process, we just go down the list, but we also rely on the Holy Spirit to give us knowledge, wisdom, and discernment to identify who's actually there.
It's important to use the demon's name.
STORY - It's like a teacher who has to leave her classroom for a short time, and tells everyone to behave while she's away. When she returns, as she enters the classroom a spitball flies past her and hits the chalk board. If she says "who did that", who would respond? If she sees little Johnny throw the spit ball, and says "Johnny, come up here", what would happen? Little Johnny will obey because she has the authority or legal right, and she saw him and correctly called him out by name.
STORY: A Pastor & Profit went through deliverance because he suffered from migraine headaches. The headaches made it very difficult for him to do his job. He had Indian and Generational Curses that caused the headaches. After deliverance, the headaches totally left him. For the first time in many years, he was totally free from headaches for quite a few months. One day he realized he had a small headache that was just beginning. It only felt like a slight pressure over his eyes, but because of the 'fear' of his previous pain, he went to the doctor for medication. Going to the doctor and using the medication re-opened the door for the spirit to return with 7 more, more powerful than the first. The headaches returned, and were much worse than before. He went back through deliverance, and was set free again. After the second deliverance, the prayer minister told him to pray first before taking any medication. He began to pray, and cast out the spirit every time he felt a headache beginning. After several times of binding the spirit and casting it out, they quit trying and the headaches never returned.
If you don't know the source of the problem, you can bind a spirit "manifesting as" the name of the problem. For example, you can bind and cast out a spirit "manifesting as a headache", a toothache, fear, temptation, addiction, or whatever.
Binding Vision - (given to Jay Lee)
God gave Jay Lee a vision that was published in Frank Hammond's book entitled "Saints at War." The vision goes something like this. Jay was taken into a place, which he thought was in the second heaven. This place was a chamber that was dimly lit, long and narrow and had a long black table in the center that was also long and narrow. He was with Jesus standing at one end of the table and noticed a flame at the other end. The flame was in the form of man with sparklers shooting out of it. There were also flames on each side approximately ten feet tall lined side by side about four feet apart. There was also a blue ball in the center of the black table. Jay asked the Lord, "Where are we?" Jesus said, "This is Satan's headquarters. The blue ball in the center of the table represents the earth. The flame at the end of the table is Satan. Those sparklers represent the glory, since he likes to imitate God. The flames on each side of the room are some main spirits.'
About the same time, Jay noticed a very bright light behind him. When he turned around he saw his angels. They were in the form of a "V" and he was standing at the point. He had so much boldness as he turned around he flung his arm toward each spirit in the room, including Satan, and said, "I bind you all up in the Name of Jesus." The most amazing thing happened. He saw gold chains shoot out of his fingertips and wrapped themselves around every spirit in the room including Satan. Satan became furious. He said, Mister, if you want to preach the gospel, you can preach. If you want be a missionary anywhere in the world, you can be one. If you want to feed the hungry, you can. But don't you ever do that thing again." Then Jay realized that is what destroys Satan's kingdom.
At that point, Jesus took Jay out of the room and took him over a large field, several thousand acres. Below were spirits that were all bound up and completely immobile. The Lord said that these were spirits that were at one time very productive, but because the Body of Christ has bound them up they are still bound. The Lord then took Jay to the end of the field and had him look, as though he was looking through a plate glass window. He saw spirits that were binding up people. The people were in real bondage and some could hardly move. Jay then looked to the right and looked through another plate glass window and saw spirits binding up more people however, it would fall off them like hot butter. It had no effect on them. The Lord said that these are Christians the spirits are binding up. The ones on the left don't realize who they are in Christ, therefore they stay in bondage. The ones on the right know who they are and simply take authority and the bindings fall off.
Then the Lord took him back into the chamber. It was now brighter than before and he noticed there were little imps trying to knock the gold chains off of Satan. However their efforts were futile; they couldn't budge them. Jay then realized Satan had a lot of chains on him; however, some of them were rusting off. Jay asked the Lord why these chains were rusting off. The Lord Said because those who put them there lost their faith. When they lose their faith they will eventually rust off.
Then Jay noticed the only chains on the huge spirits on each side of the room were the ones he put on earlier. "Why do these spirits only have on these chains?" asked Jay. The Lord replied, "They represent the deceiving spirits in our churches today and My people don't have enough discernment to realize their presence. However, I am sending the gift of Discerning of Spirits to My people and they will recognize them and will bind them up."
